Razzleberry Limeade

Ooh! Razzleberry Limeade sounds like a refreshing summer drink! :) Too bad it's only the name of today's card, which I made for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. Today's cake is so fun and inspired the color and repeating circle patterns on my card.

Here are the DEEtails:

I printed off several fun patterned papers from JLJ Designs, our sponsor for the week. I adhered them to my Lucky Limeade card and added some fun scallops with some Rich Razzleberry card stock. A Lucky Limeade scallop circle bears SU!'s Simply Thanks sentiment. A little bit of Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, a Rich Razzleberry designer button and some extra buttons from my stash finish off the card.

I hope you'll play along with in this week's I {Heart} Ribbon Challenge. You still have a bit more time!

A to Z of DEE

Hi friends! :) Today's colorful card was made for this week's ColourQ challenge. LOVE these colors!

This card didn't turn out exactly how I had planned, but I'm loving it. Here are the DEEtails:

I started by building my layered ruffle embellishment with some Scallop Edge border punched Early Espresso card stock, some ruffled teal satin ribbon from my stash, the edge of a white ruffled ribbon from my stash, and some Flirty Ribbon Originals. Then I created my little note pad page by trimming down some some Whisper White card stock and punching the top edge with the Spiral Border punch. I masked the edges and stamped the center with SU!'s A to Z stamp. I layered on a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock stamped with the sentiment from SU!'s Apple Blossoms and embellished the card with some buttons - a coral button from my stash and an Early Espresso designer button, a chipboard parenthesis, and some flower ribbon trim.

Now, sticking with this A to Z theme, here are some fun facts about me... A few weeks ago, Sue B. sent me a fun little questionnaire so you could get to know me better. I changed a few questions, cause I'm a rebel like that. Haha. Just kidding, I didn't have good answers for some of them (or didn't want to answer them), so I changed it up to something I thought suited me better. If you choose to play along, please link to the comments. I'd love to hear your answers too!

A. Age: I just turned 29.

B. Bed size: Queen - and it is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Even when we stay at luxury hotels, I'm dreaming of coming home to sleep in my bed!

C. Car you drive: White Rav4

D. Dream vacation: Australia

E. Essential start to your day: Getting out of bed - if that doesn't happen, the day doesn't start

F. Favorite color: green and yellow (they happen to be the school colors at the elementary school where I work so it's a perfect fit)

G. Gold or silver: I've always been a silver and white gold kind of girl, but I've recently starting to enjoy gold tones... Hmm, perhaps I am growing up.

H. Height: 5'2 1/4" And yes, that quarter of an inch is very important

I. Instruments you play(ed): I currently play the Tuba, but I've played the piano, flute, and a few percussion instruments

J. Job title: Elementary School Counselor

K. Kids: 0 or 400... however you want to look at it :)

L. Live: currently Southern Maryland

M. Mom's name: Audrey

N. Nicknames: Everyone just calls me Nina... My best bud calls me Neeners. I guess in blogland, people call me Dee...? I'm not sure I'm a total fan of that...

O. Overnight hospital stays: Only one, I think. It was quite interesting. I was really drugged and I had my contacts out and all I wanted was to know what the pattern on my nurses scrubs were. She thought I was a total nut.

P. Pets: A Basset Hound, Molly

Q. Quote: "Love what you do. Do what you love." I live by it.

R. Righty or lefty: righty

S. Siblings: 4 half-brothers. So really, I only have 2 :)

T. Time you wake up: 15 minutes before I have to leave

U. Under your bed: Extra bath towels and a basket with icy hot, lip balm, lotion, and an eye mask

V. Vegetables you don't like: Onions

W. Worst Habbit: Expecting perfection.

X. X-rays you've had: I think just dental x-rays... Not sure...

Y. Yummy food you make: I don't cook

Z. Zodiac sign: Cancer

Double Doilies

These doily bisquits from Atypical Type A may possibly be the best thing I have come across. I loved them so much that they inspired me to make two cards. :) And I love them both!

Alone they are just as fabulous. :)

Love. Love. Love.

Want the DEElicious DEEtails?

I stamped some Crumb Cake card stock with the Delicate Doilies stamps in VersaMark ink and embossed them in white. Then I added some teal ribbon pleats across the bottom (click here for the tutorial). I tucked in the sentiment, that I stamped from SU!'s Spring Solitude and added a Pool Party mat before adhering everything to my Crumb Cake card. So simple and elegant!

Don't forget! Today is your last chance to enter my Birthday Giveaway! The winner will be announced tomorrow! Hope you're the lucky one! :)

Pierced Papillon

Okay, so my butterfly isn't really pierced, but I thought this was a clever title for my post today since this week's challenge over at Pals Paper Arts is Paper Piercing.

Paper Piercing isn't a technique I do often because, well, I'm not that good at it. My holes always end up making uneven lines... Sigh... I love the look though, so I decided to try my hand at it again. I ended up with uneven lines as usual, but thought if I used the paper piercing as a very minor detail in my card it wouldn't be quite as noticed. I hope! :)

Here are the DEEtails:

I started by attempting to pierce a straight line across a piece of Wild Wasabi card stock. To help make my unevenness, I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper Patterns in Soft Suede trimmed with a Dotted Scallop Ribbon punched edge, and wrapped with some Early Espresso Baker's Twine. I stamped the frame image from SU!'s Forever Young in Soft Suede on some Naturals White card stock and attached it to my card with some Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I stamped a butterfly image from SU!'s Hostess Set, Precious Butterflies on a book page in Crumb Cake ink. I cut out four butterflies and stacked them together to make a nice littel 3-dimensional effect in my frame.

Thanks for stopping by today! :)

A Birthday Perk

Remember that sweet card that I received from Stampin' Up! that I shared yesterday? Well one of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is a birthday discount that we receive on top of our regular demo discount. That's what was in the card. And it's super exciting when you have a July birthday since that's when all the brand new goodies come out! Woohoo!

I used my discount on the brand new Perfect Pennants Bigz Die, which I paired with a ruffle flower that I made with some pretty pink crepe paper on this card.

I had so much fun with my birthday treat themed cards that I made earlier this month, so after the weekend's birthday festivities, I decided to create a Thank You card inspired by even more yummy birthday treats. Look at today's yummies.

DEEtails:

Hubby and I picked up some pretty crepe paper streamers while shopping this weekend. I immediately went home and created some ruffled flowers. I love the way the little doily from the Perfect Pennants die creates a sort of a frame around the ruffled flower. I wanted to keep the card fairly simple to showcase my pretty flower and doily, so I added a strip of kraft crepe paper to my Crumb Cake card and stamped the sentiment from SU!'s Afterthoughts. Thanks for peeking in today!

ETA: (Sorry, I don't know how to respond to comments on Blogger. If anyone knows how, please clue me in!)
Hi Chris, The Perfect Pennants Bigz Die from Stampin' Up! has BOTH triangle and circle shapes! Perfect for making all kinds of pennants - guess that's why they call it Perfect Pennants :)

In With The New... Out With The Old... (And Some Birthday Wishes)

At the beginning of July, I shared some exciting events that were coming your way this month. I hope you've enjoyed the festitivites so far. Today I'm celebrating the transition of Stampin' Up!'s new Idea Book and Catalog by sharing both new and retired goodies with you!

New goodies means some fabulous new ribbon shares! You know I love ribbon... But what I love even more is the opportunity to share it with you! Ribbon shares are an economical way to purchase a great variety of ribbon. My current ribbon shares are for NEW ribbons, including that fun ruffled ribbon and cute scallop polka dot ribbon that you've seen on a few of my recent projects. To get your hands on some ribbon, check out my ribbon shares here.

And of course, in order to make room for new stamps, I have to clean out some of the retired stamps from my collection. You benefit from this purging by having the opportunity to purchase DEEscounted stamps! That's my code word for retired stamps at discounted prices. Many of these stamps set are new and in fantastic condition so be sure to check them out here.

I don't have a card to share with you today, but I wanted to show you a couple of sweet cards that I received in the mail this weekend.

The first card is from my fearless leader, Mary Fish. Don't you just love that bright Rich Razzleberry paired with some crisp Whisper White? And the new My Friend stamp set from Stampin' Up! is one that I have to add to my wishlist.

This next lovely card is from a friend and Pretty Pal, Patti MacLeith. I LOVE the way she used the Lace Ribbon Border punch to frame the sentiment. Isn't it gorgeous?! I am definitely going to have to try that!

This next card is one that my hubby's aunt, Susan sent me. Isn't the matching embellie on the card envelope so cute? Aunt Susan is a talented photographer, but I don't believe she does much papercrafting. Although this card is a handmade one, I don't think it was made by her. I believe she purchased it from Etsy - she is quite a fan. In fact, she's my best client :)

And this last card is one from Stampin' Up! I had to share it cause it's so cute! :) The card was sent with my birthday perk which I'll be sharing with you tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Thank you all for your sweet birthday wishes! They made my weekend extra special! :)

Wishing You A Wild Birthday

It's time for a fun Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!

DEEtails:

I loved the idea of a zebra print background, so I drew a design on some Basic Black card stock and cut it out. I adhered my stripes on some Whisper White card stock and wrapped my zebra print with some glittery ribbon along with some pink satin ribbon, both from my stash. Then I stamped a fun birthday greeting from SU!'s Everything Nice. This is such a fun greeting to ink up! I used various pinks and grays to color in the sentiment, then matted it with som Basic Black card stock.

Thanks for peeking in today! There's lots going on around the blog this week, including my I {Heart} Ribbon Challenge, an Etsy sale, and a Birthday Giveaway! Hope you stick around a bit! :)

A Birthday Giveaway

Today is my birthday and I'm so happy to be celebrating with all of you! I'd love to share a birthday gift with you, so I'm giving away one of my favorite crafting goodies...

One lucky reader will win 20+ yards of my favorite ribbons and trims, which includes current, retired and brand new Stampin' Up! ribbons!

The prize package includes 1 yard each of the following ribbons:
Baja Breeze 1" Double-Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon

Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon
Night of Navy 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon
Pink Pirouette 1 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon
Poppy Parade 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon
Pretty in Pink 1/2" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

Whisper White 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon

...and more!

For a chance to win, become a follower and/or subscriber (if you aren't already), comment below telling me what your favorite ribbon is and watch the prize package grow ! (Your favorite ribbon does not have to be Stampin' Up! product, nor does it need to be included in this prize package).

I'll go first! This is really hard, but I think my favorite ribbon is Stampin' Up!'s Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft) Taffeta Ribbon. When the Kraft ribbon retired, I bought 3 spools of it just to make sure I wouldn't run out! I am so happy to see it back in the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog! :)

Now let's sweeten the deal a bit, shall we? You know... add some icing to the cake...? For every comment entered, if I have your ribbon on hand, I'll add a yard of it to the prize package! For example, if you say Old Olive Striped Grosgrain Ribbon is your favorite (it's a close second for me) and I have it (which you know I do...) I'll add it in! Of course not all birthday wishes can come true, so this is limited to what I have in my stash, but don't worry, I have a LOT of ribbon! This means this prize package could get mega big! Woo!

So comment away! Please only one comment per person. You'll have until the end of the day on Friday, July 29th. One lucky winner will be announced next Saturday. Good luck! I can't wait to hear about your favorite ribbons!

Picture Perfect

Today's card is for this week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge. Sketch challenges are definitely not one of my strong suites, but I'm pretty pleased with this card. I decided to turn this sketch on its side and angle one of the elements a bit... What do you think?

DEEtails:

I wanted to make a black and white Polaroid type of photo with the image from Forever Young, which I made my focus on this card. I layered some ribbons - Going Gray Striped Grosgrain, Basic Black Taffeta, and Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon. Then I added a ruffle flower, which I wrote a tutorial for recently. This time I used some pages from a book and some Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Patterned Paper. I love that little bit of color poking through. Then I tucked in a Rich Razzleberry tag, stamped with the sentiment from Kindness Matters.

Don't forget to enter to win some Ruffle Flowers and be sure to come back tomorrow for some birthday fun! :)

Special DEElivery: This card is for sale in my Etsy store.

Simple Summer

I'm sharing a simple summer card that I made for the current challenge over at Jay Gee's Nook. I always love the inspiration boards over there...

DEEtails:

I wrapped some Not Quite Navy Striped Grosgrain ribbon on my Crumb Cake card and some linen thread around my Crumb Cake card. Then I stamped some cute little sand dollar stamps from my stash onto some Crumb Cake card stock and embossed it with some white embossing powder. I adhered the sand dollars to some Crumb Cake matted with Natural White card stock using Stampin' Dimensionals and layered it over my ribbon.

It's not too late to play along in my I {Heart} Ribbon challenge! A card like today's which uses two types of ribbon fits the challenge perfectly! Why not add yours?

Cuckoo for You

We're finally home and I'm back at work today teaching for our summer program. I'm sharing a card today that I whipped up while in Ohio. It didn't photograph too well, so I apologize for it looking so dull. It is a slightly dull card, but not quite as dull as it appears.

This card was inspired by another one of my Pinterest pins - this image is from Betsy White

DEEtails:

I am absolutely in love with SU!'s new In Color, Pool Party. I combined with some Going Gray and a hint of Brushed Gold for this card. The cuckoo clock from SU!'s Forever Young was stamped in Pool Party and embellished with some Designer Buttons and a flower from my stash. Then I trimmed one side of the card stock with some Ruffled Ribbon in Pool Party and a Brushed Gold Scalloped Edge Border. Thanks for peeking in today!

Don't forget to enter my ruffled flower drawing if you haven't already! :)

A Sweet Sunday

Psst! If you like freebies, check out yesterday's post!

Happy Sunday! Today hubby and I are making the 8 hour drive back to our little apartment in Maryland. Okay, really HE is making the 8 hour drive. I will spend the 8 hours sitting, snoozing, and singing. He loves it :)

In the mean time, I'll share my card for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge.

CIC119

DEEtails:

I started with a Pretty in Pink card and wrapped some Taffeta ribbon - Daffodil Delight and Pink Pirouette. Then I stamped some flowers and leaves from SU!'s Array of Sunshine in Pretyt in Pink, Regal Rose and Pear Pizzazz. I stamped each flower 3 times and cut out each layer, which I assembled with Stampin' Dimensionals. I love this look. Then I simply tucked my leaves under.

Don't forget to link up your projects using 2 or more ribbons in my I {Heart} Ribbon Challenge! Just a few days left! :)

Teal Thanks (And A Treat For You!)

We've spent the past two weeks in Ohio visiting with our families. It's been an extra special treat this summer because my Grandma from Hawaii came to visit too. We've had so much fun shopping, eating, laughing, and spending time together. On her last day here, I tucked this thank you card in her hand carry for her to discover while on the plane ride home.

When I announced my blog candy giveaway a few weeks ago, I started to get nervous when so many of you said you wanted more tutorials. The truth is, I don't have a whole lot up my sleeves to teach you! So if there's something you see me do that you want to learn about, please let me know! In the meantime, I thought I'd share these fun ruffle flowers that I was having fun making earlier this month. (click here for the tutorial, plus scroll down for more!)

I've also been showcasing the new In Colors, which was also a request from many of you. Isn't this Island Indigo divine?! I'm so pleased to find an alternative to Bermuda Bay and Taken with Teal - both colors I was bummed to see retire last year with the color renovation. Island Indigo is kind of this deep teal color, which pairs really nicely with Pool Party, another new In Color - SU! is on a roll with these fabulous new hues! These colors make a perfect thank you note for my Grandma, who loves teals and blues.

Card DEEtails:

For this card, I started with stamping my sentiment from SU!'s Thank You Kindly in Island Indigo on Naturals White card stock. I trimmed the edges with some Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border in Pool Party. Then I added my lovely book page ruffled flowers adorned with some teal buttons from my stash tied up with Linen Thread.

So, I mentioned a treat for you... It's not enough to just give you the tutorial, I'm also doing a mini giveaway. :) Before we left town, I was experimenting with different types of ruffle flowers - book print, crepe paper, bond paper, and possibly my new favorite, book print and crepe paper combo. (Sorry for the blurry photos, I was in a rush to take them before we left!)

Here they are close up:

Are you ready to win?! FOUR winners will win one card of ruffle flowers (three flowers total). To be entered, simply comment on this post and tell me which flowers you like best! You'll have until 12:00AM on July 23rd. Winners will be announced at noon! Good luck!

Special DEElivery: This card was given to my grandmother. The winners of the fabulous ruffle flowers were announced here.

A Touch of Kindness

I'm here today with another card using one of my Pinterest pins. This color inspiration is from Flights of Fancy.

DEEtails:

I as immediately inspired by the colorful butterfly in the inspiration image, so I stamped some MS butterflies in Night of Navy on some bright colored card stock - Regal Rose, Island Indigo, and More Mustard. I cut them out and adhered them to a Night of Navy card with Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I stamped the sentiment from SU!'s Touch of Kindness on Naturals White card stock and added a mat of the same color. I added a touch of Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon for an extra bit of color.
